Special Operations Group

Drone 18 was purchased by the Gratis Firefighters Association in 2022, and several District members have become certified as drone pilots. The drone can be useful in various rescue operations but is primarily used in large area searches.

Mass Casualty 18 - An enclosed trailer capable of being towed by several District units is housed at Fire Headquarters and can respond to mass casualty incidents throughout the tri-state area. It contains equipment to triage and treat 40 people. 

The Special Operations Group has members trained in many different facets of specialized rescue, including Rope Rescue, Swift Water Rescue, Ice Water Rescue, Grain Bin Rescue, Large Area Search & Rescue, & Urban Search & Rescue (USAR).
